For immediate release: Early in the morning on February 2, 2011, there was an attempted burglary at Jim Pruett’s Guns & Ammo (new store locationa) at 0200 hrs. All three scum bags were taken down by Harris County Sheriffs Department Deputies who displayed an incredible degree of speed, organization and professionalism. Same goes for the EMS team. The K-9 unit dogs did their duty in seeking out the evil and punishing without official authorization. They showed restraint and hence only one slime ball went to the hospital.

Ever wonder what is taught in a CHL class? In the great state of Texas, a minimum of ten hours of training for an original-issue concealed handgun license, and four hours of training for a renewal of a CHL license is required. The state requires several areas of CHL instruction to be covered in a class: weapons laws, non-violent dispute resolution, use of force and deadly force, weapons storage and safety, and basic marksmanship including range qualification.

After spending a few hours in the classroom going over the State required curriculum, a shooting proficiency test will be administered. The shooting portion consists of three different parts – proficiency at three yards, seven yards, and fifteen yards – for a total of 50 rounds.

All students have three (3) attempts to pass both portions including the shooting proficiency and the written exam.A score of at least 70% on the written exam, and 70% proficiency on the shooting portion of the CHL class, will enable one to obtain a concealed handgun license.
